Tania D'Avignon is of Ukrainian heritage -- her maiden name is
Mykhailyshyn -- and she is superbly fluent in Ukrainian and English as
well as being a fabulous photographer. She has published two items which
hold a special place in my heart and library -- a photo-essay book about
Ukraine titled "Simply Ukraine" (Prosto Ukraina), which is available
from booksellers such as Amazon.com, and a pictorial bilingual 2002
calendar titled "My Love is Ukraine", which is available from Yevshan

Tania D'Avignon of Newton MASS, a photographer, has been awarded a
Fulbright Scholar grant to do research at the Ukrainian
Academy of Sciences in Kyiv, Ukraine during the 2002-2003
academic year.
Her photo journalistic project: "Ukrainian Women in Transition"
will depict the changing role of women in Ukraine at the turn of
the millennium.
D'Avignon is one of approximately 800 U.S. faculty and
professionals who will travel abroad to some 140 countries for the
2002-2003 academic year through the Fulbright Scholarship Program.
