Dear Colleagues,

As some of you might know, I am currently guest-editing a special issue of the online journal KinoKultura on Ukrainian cinema. One of the difficulties I have come up against is locating reviewers for contemporary Ukrainian films. If you or your colleagues or graduate students might be interested in contributing a film review, please contact me at chernev@muohio.edu. Given the difficult state of contemporary Ukrainian cinema, some films are available on DVD but others aren't, and while some films have English subtitles, others are in Ukrainian and/or Russian only. I believe it is particularly important that the films be reviewed from the Ukrainian studies perspective, as it is frequently ignored in general scholarship on the cinema of the ex-USSR and Eastern Europe. I would be happy to answer any questions or concerns you might have regarding the project.
