Lytvyn's kowtowing to Putin's interpretation of the Holodomor is one of the
recent sighns of the back-sliding of Ukranian politicians. A more saddening
pronouncement was the address of President Yushchenko on the occasion of the
May 9th "Victory Day" celebrations. Yushchenko, you may remember, was the
one who tried to bring the veterans of the Red Army and UPA (I don't think
his thinking went as far ar Divizia Halachyna) to sit around common tables
at the Khreshchatyk. The project did not work, but the project was noble and
worthy of the president's dignity. Now compare that act with his
back-sliding to the typical Soviet-style discourse in praise of "victory",
"liberation" - worthy of a sovok flunkey:

A still more disturbing phenomenon is the apparent growth of pro-fascist
movements among Russo-centric and Ukraino-centric radical youth in Ukraine.
There is undoubtedly some foreing money behind some if not most of the
organizations and their activities. However it is Ukraine that will suffer
from this. Symptomatic of this danger is the recent murder of Maksym Chaika
at a confrontation of Russian and Ukrainian fascist-type gangs. Very
disturbing is the announcement about the first "all-Ukrainian" congress of
the Social-Nationalist Assembly, where Chaika's blood may be used as the
cementing glue of a new movement. On the organization see:

And more precisely about the congress & conference:

Quo vadis Ukraino?
