Dear Ms. Durbak,

Why would one want to indulge in misrepresentation? I have just watched that video clip. I must commend the DSCC pundits on their Borat-styled ingenuity in compelling my Ukrainian American vote to go elsewhere due to their indulgence in glaring misrepresentation.

Putting political likes and dislikes aside, I was deeply disturbed by a very inaccurate representation of the way people in Ukraine pronounce their "thank you" in that DSCC video clip. Misplacing the emphasis in the second word and stressing the second syllable instead of the first amounted to nothing less but a profound disrespect to correct pronunciation and horrendous butchery of the Ukrainian phonetics. Alas, this I cannot tolerate! :(((

For the sake of fairness, in Mr. Iwaskiw's note I did not see any inaccurate representation whatsoever. I thought he merely brought it to our attention suggesting that the video might be of interest to AAUS members stating the facts. Ande here are the three facts, which you apparently doubt:

Firstly, the video does criticize Bob Schaffer, a candidate for U.S. Senate from Colorado.

Secondly, it criticizes him for his support of Ukraine (even the title is very telling: "Ukraine's Congressman"). Quote: "During his six years in Congress, Schaffer spent his time and effort working on behalf of Ukraine, while working against Coloradans..."

Thirdly, United States Senator Charles E. Schumer for New York is listed as a DSCC Chair on the same website: http://www.dscc.org/content?content_item_KEY=1438

Indeed, Ms. Durbak, why would one want to indulge in misrepresentation?

Sincerely,
Oles Berezhny

Walter,
Your statement is not an accurate representation of that video, and I don't
see how it has anything to do with Schumer.
I think that there's more than enough that politicians and political parties
actually do that merits criticism. Why would one want to indulge in
misrepresentation?

It may be of interest to AAUS members that the Democratic Senatorial
Campaign Committee (DSCC), chaired by New York Senator Charles Schumer, has
posted on You-Tube a video criticizing Bob Schaffer, Republican candidate
for U.S. Senate from Colorado, for his support of Ukraine.
