This article deserves our attention because it shows two things:
1) even such a serious Russian scholar and Ukrainophile as Maksudov can have
difficulty in seeing the distinct characteristics of the Ukrainian famine
and its place in the Ukrainian genocide;
2) his criticism of Ukraine's flippant attitude towards the horrendous event
and his comparison with what the Jews have done to honor the victims and
preserve their memory should be take to heart by Ukrainians, and especially
its elites.
