The Ukrainian Studies Program of Columbia University will host a
talk with two award-winning journalists and foreign correspondents
-- CHRYSTIA FREELAND and ANN COOPER -- titled:

"THE STATUS OF MEDIA FREEDOM IN UKRAINE AND RUSSIA"

When: Thursday, March 29 at 7:30pm
Where: Room 1512, International Affairs Building, Columbia
University, 420 W. 118th St., New York, NY

Chrystia Freeland is US Managing Editor of the Financial Times,
while Ann Cooper is Professor of Professional Practice and
Coordinator of the Broadcast Program at Columbia University's
Graduate School of Journalism.

They will discuss press conditions in Ukraine and the dire media
situation in Russia, as well as media development efforts in the
post-Soviet era. Moderated by Dr. Yuri Shevchuk, Lecturer of
Ukrainian Language and Culture at Columbia University.
