NEXT THURSDAY:

The Ukrainian Studies Program at Columbia University invites you to its 
last event of the semester, a lunchtime lecture by El’vis Beytullayev, 
titled:

"The Crimean Political Scene in the Post-Soviet Era and Its Implications 
for Ukraine's Relations with Turkey and Russia"

Beytullayev will discuss how domestic Crimean politics have affected 
relations between Ukraine and Russia since Ukraine's independence from 
the Soviet Union. Beytullayev is a junior research fellow at Wolfson 
College, University of Cambridge, and earned a Ph.D. in international 
studies at University of Cambridge in 2006. During this Fall 2006 
semester, Beytullayev has been a Skhlar Fellow at the Harvard Ukrainian 
Research Institute.
