The penalty decision was one of the worst I have seen in years--and I say this
as a neutral (England supporter). There is simply no excuse for it. One little
tug on the shirt--the sort of tug that happens 5-6 times from defenders to
forwards during corners--merited neither a penalty nor a red card for
Vashchuk. However, Ukraine surely has to provide better service to Shevchenko,
especially if he is to be the lone striker in a 4-5-1 formation. Several times
opportunities were missed for long passes for Shevchenko to run onto. I think
Ukraine can still qualify, but Tunisia will not be easy. This team plays a
defensive formation and relies on breakaways.
