Title: Re: [aaus-list] two messages from non-members
(Chornob
I agree with Gene's distaste (horror?) for supporting anything
associated with Lukashenka. The long lag between the receipt of the
post and my forwarding represents my own hesitation about it while I
consulted others about whether to put it through or not. In the end, I
thought it important that those researching the ongoing politics and
social outcomes from Chornobyl be aware that the event is taking
place. If it is any comfort, further messages from the Embassy already
have been interdicted.

Personal observation: I would think twice

It seems to me that doing so only helps their PR efforts and
undermines the Belarusian people's democratic aspirations. On
the good news front, I doubt many of you are rushing to join THE EURASIA CENTER AND
FRIENDSHIP SOCIETY.

two messages from non-members (Chornobyl
and Pedagogy
Dear AAUSers,
I am forwarding two messages from outside
the list. One is from the Embassy of Belarus, regarding Chornobyl
(minus the html graphics in the original). I do not know anything
about the foundation for Chornobyl/Chernobyl that they are endorsing.
The second is from a Ukrainian researcher who is looking for
information on a conference that must have been mentioned earlier on
the list. Please respond to them, not the list or me.
Regards,
Rob DeLossa
