Dear Colleagues,
Below is a note which I obtained from the
Editor of Svoboda, Ms Irena Yarosevych.
Inasmuch as it pertains to the Appeal of the
five Ukrainian scholars, which I recently posted,
I am resending it to the list with your indulgence.
Thank you, Irena!
Kind regards,
Natalia Pylypiuk

An update from last week:
The February 10 issue of Svoboda was mailed out on Friday and is now
available for viewing at online www.svoboda-news.com.
To view the appeal with signatures, go to the website and when the
SVOBODA
logo appears onscreen, click once and wai for the home page to
appear. Once
on the home page, go to the left side of the site and click "Vsia
Hazeta".
This link loads the PDF version of the newspaper. For those who have
dialup
service or an older version of Acrobat or Windows, be patient, it may
take a
view minutes for the newspaper to load. When the newspaper appears,
scroll
down to page 9. The appeal and signatures appear on page 9 and page 10.
We received 105 signatures by deadline and received more than three
dozen
after deadline, which we will print in a subsequent issue with
excerpts from
some of the letters.
I thank everybody for a truly rapid and heartfelt response over the
course
of 72 hours. Svoboda will send copies of this issue to our
academicians.
I will let your know when the next issue with excerpts and letters
will be
printed -
If you can put out this information on your elist, I would greatly
appreciate that.
Sincerely -
Irena Yarosevych
PS: For those who wrote and asked aboout the currency of our website
- out
of consideration to our paying subscribers, we don't upload the most
recent
issue of the newspaper until a few days after the hardcopy version
has been
mailed out.
