Dear Colleagues,
Once again, I turn to you in the hope that you will lend your support
to Jaroslav Jackiv, Natalija Jakovenko, Stanislav Kul'chyc'kyj,
Oleksandr Majboroda,
Myroslav Popovych and Jurij Shapoval, who are being taken to court by
the MAUP.
The February 3 court hearing was postponed to an undetermined date.
Thus, it is NOT too late to send letters of support from individual
colleagues and from
North American and European scholarly institutions, as well as
diaspora organizations.
Please send these letters, no matter how brief, as SOON as possible.
I request that you send your letters to two addresses simultaneously:
pidtrymka@att.net
mokrousov@krytyka.kiev.ua
The first address will get your name included in a list of
signatories that will be published by
Svoboda in its next issue (Feb. 10), along with the text of the
academicians' appeal, an explanation
about the MAUP, and what is transpiring. Time is of the essence.
Please include in ENGLISH
and in UKRAINIAN, your first and last name, position, institution
and location (city, state, province, country),
and e-mail by Tuesday evening, New York time. (I thank the Editor-in-
Chief of Svoboda, Ms Irene Jarosewich,
for promptly responding to the situation.)
The second address will allow colleagues in Kyiv to forward your
message to the five academicians.
They will be very grateful for your moral support.
May justice prevail.
N. Pylypiuk
