Ukraine is known as the nation that has one of the lowest percentages of
population reading print newspapers (while Romania is one of the highest).
Looks like all of those readers in Ukraine are reading online newspapers
instead. Ukraine is the top nation in Eastern/Central Europe in reading
online newspapers according to Nielsen-Net Ratings. See below for an

Emerging markets most likely to engage in online media
Nielsen//NetRatings researched the Internet users in emerging countries in
order to find out the countries, where citizens are most likely to engage in
reading online newspapers. Out of all emerging markets, Ukraine and Hungary
have the highest share of Internet users (whom Nielsen//NetRatings called
netizens) who are likely to read an Internet newspaper in the near future.
* Home remains the most popular location - 93% of Netizens (online
Europeans) have accessed the web from there compared to 47% of people from
work, 26% from educational institutions and 19% from Internet Cafes.
* Hungary is Europe's emerging market most likely to access ti internet from
home (97%) and Greece is mostly accessing from work (67%)
* Bulgarians are the most likely to use and Internet Cafe (41%) or library
(16%) and are the emerging market likely to access the internet from the
greatest variety of locations.
* Lithuanians are the most technologically advance Netizens - being the
market most likely to access the web from mobile phones, PDAs, games
consoles and high street kiosks
* Bulgarian Netizens represent the emerging market most likely to access the
next using laptop (44%); Latvians are most likely to access the net using
Digital TV's (19%)
* Overall, 17% of of Netizens currently access the web using a mobile, 5%
access through Digital TV with a PDAs and games consoles being used by 4% of
Netizens to access the web.
