LANGUAGE AND SOCIETY: POWER, IDEOLOGY, IDENTITY

The course will focus on features of language development that reflect
and contribute to the development of society at large—the phenomena that
can be viewed as the incarnation of social changes in language. It will
examine language as a unique tool of political and ideological control,
a key factor in shaping identities, and a reflection of changing power
relations.
