New Year's at the Institute was a success!

The 2005 New Year's Eve at the Institute event was a tremendous success. Despite the snowy weather, 120 people arrived for an elegant evening of dancing to the music of Luna, reconnecting with old friends and making new ones. The silent auction of creative artwork by Ukrainian orphans benefiting the Ukrainian Children's Aid and Relief Effort brought in over $1,000 to help orphanages in Ukraine. In addition, the proceeds of the event made a significant contribution to the Ukrainian Institute. The Institute thanks everyone who joined us for this wonderful evening.

Do you you have any photos from New Year's at the Institute? If you'd like to share them with us, please email them to development@ukrainianinstitute.org

Music at the Institute Concert: Two Cities, One Spirit

On Sunday, January 22, 2006 at 3:00 PM, Music at the Institute will continue its season with an Anthology of Ukrainian and American Chamber Music. This special event is entitled "Two Cities, One Spirit - Music of Kyiv and New York," and features the special piece Leaving Sao by Huang Ruo, which was written for the Ukrainian Institute of America and Musiciens sans frontieres.

Tickets are $30, $25 for Members and Seniors, and $20 for Students. Call (212) 288-8660 for more information and to get your tickets.

What does the Institute mean to you?

Since 1948, the Ukrainian Institute of America has strengthened the identity of individuals of Ukrainian descent and the general public by organizing and sponsoring exhibits, concerts, conferences, symposia and other educational, scholarship and professional activities.

We want to know what the Ukrainian Institute means to you.

Please take a moment to email us with your thoughts about what the Institute means to you, as well as any thoughts you might have for what the Institute could mean for you. Just email us at development@ukrainianinstitute.org with your ideas, thoughts and comments.

    $10,000 left to raise!

Since November 2005, the Institute raised over $20,000 towards the Institute's Matching Grants campaign from the generous contributions of its members and friends. This year, the Institute building will undergo needed repairs to its antiquated windows and electrical system. We received $340,000 in matching grants from two government entities for these repairs. One is from the Department of Interior, and the other is from the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation's Environmental Protection Fund.

Through these matching grants, donations received are matched dollar for dollar. We have already received overwhelming generosity of members and non-members from across the country, however we still have $10,000 left to raise.

We're almost there! Your participation is needed now more than ever.

Be part of saving one of America's most historic buildings, and the pride of the Ukrainian community by contributing to the Matching Grants Campaign by calling us or emailing development@ukrainianinstitute.org

    Renting the Institute building

The Institute has been a highly-desired rental location for events such as photo shoots, banquets, corporate meetings, various parties, and weddings. By renting the building, the Institute is able to raise a significant portion of its operational income to produce its great programs.

Even if you're not planning an event, help us spread the word at work and among friends about how the Institute would bring a unique elegance and charm to their event. Even better, let us know who your corporate event planner is, or any appropriate event contacts are, and we'll make sure to get in touch with them.
