Mark your Calendars – "Race for the Rada" discussion series begins!

Ring in the holiday season by taking part in the first Race for the Rada 
event:

Thursday, December 15th
UCCA building, 2nd Floor
203 Second Ave, New York

Topic:  The influence of musicians, celebrities and music on the Orange 
Revolution and leading up to the Parliamentary elections in Ukraine.

Hosted by Brooklyn Ukrainian Group (BUG), in cooperation with the 
Ukrainian Congress Committee of America, Shevchenko Scientific Society, 
and  the Columbia University Ukrainian Studies Program. Come participate 
in an active discussion on the topic with Dr. Adriana Helbig (Columbia 
University), view scenes from Kyiv's Independence Square, discuss with 
others how the Orange Revolution affected you, and see an exclusive 
interview with Ukrainian musician Taras Chubay filmed by BUG member 
Damian Kolody.

Cost: $5.00 at the door. A portion of the proceeds from these events 
will go towards administrative costs associated with sending election 
observers to the March 2006 Parliamentary elections in Ukraine, via the 
Ukrainian Congress Committee of America’s (UCCA) non-partisan election 
monitoring effort.

RACE FOR THE RADA SCHEDULE:
In an effort to generate support for and interest in Ukraine's upcoming 
Parliamentary Elections, the co-sponsoring organizations have chosen a 
variety of hot topics that appeal to different interests and tastes, 
including:

JANUARY - The importance or triviality of the Ukrainian language for the 
electorate, hosted by Shevchenko Scientific Society;
FEBRUARY - The influence of Russia and other outside forces on Ukraine's 
elections, hosted by Ukrainian Congress Committee of America;
MARCH - An up-to-date analysis by political pundits immediately before 
the Verkovna Rada elections about what can be expected to take place 
during and after the vote, hosted by Columbia University Ukrainian 
Studies Program;
MARCH - Ukrainian Congressional Committee of America Election Observer 
Orientation
