Cultural Anthropology: The University of Mississippi seeks applications
for a tenure-track appointment at the level of Assistant Professor in
cultural anthropology with a focus on Europe. The Department of Sociology
and Anthropology is particularly interested in a cultural anthropologist
with a traditional, four-field education who conducts research and teaches
on issues of European integration, ethnicity, immigration, and nationalism
in the period from 1945 to the present.
Completion of the Ph.D. no later than December 2006 and appropriate
language proficiency are required. Excellence in undergraduate teaching
is expected. This is a joint appointment between the Croft Institute for
International Studies and the Department with teaching and service
responsibilities divided between the two academic units. The Croft
Institute (www.croft.olemiss.edu) administers the International Studies
major within the College of Liberal Arts.
