After the success of the Orange Revolution, Ukraine faces the challenges of constitutional reform, the consolidation of democracy, ensuring democratic parliamentary and local elections in 2006 and a number of bilateral issues in U.S.-Ukraine relations.  The U.S.-Ukraine Policy Dialogue Roundtable will supplement and deepen the ongoing bilateral relations between Ukraine and the United States through the involvement of government officials, members of the Verkhovna Rada and Congress, and representatives of non-governmental organizations, the media and the business community in continuous dialogue.  Participants, program implementers and program funders view this initiative as a practical and effective means of assisting in the restoration of a genuine and meaningful strategic partnership between our two countries.

After three days of intense discussion with each other, among project "Task Forces," and with Washington's experts and policy makers, participants will present their refined policy recommendations to the public at the closing plenary meeting.  These policy recommendations will be included in an 'action plan' to be submitted to the U.S. Government and to the Government of Ukraine.

Program activities are supported by the U.S. State Department's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs under the authority of the Fulbright-Hays Act of 1961, as amended, and the FREEDOM Support Act.
