I heard this joke for the first time in l955 from
my Canadian friends:  it
took place, presumably, in Edmonton where an oldtimer burned his
"seat" on an old tramway radiator and screamed... the conductor asked
him what happened,
"do you speak English?  "Ta-de, panon'ku, "spik s....
